Founded in 1987, Escalon Medical Corp. (NASDAQ: ESMC) operates in the healthcare market specializing in the development, manufacture, marketing, and distribution of medical devices in two clinical areas: In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) and Ophthalmology.
The Company's Escalon Clinical Diagnostics group provides instrumentation and reagents for hematology, clinical chemistry, and hemoglobin analysis for monitoring diabetes. These products have previously been marketed under the Drew Scientific and JAS Diagnostics brands. Additionally, the Company operates a separate subsidiary, BH Holdings, which is a provider of hematology and hemoglobin analyzers and reagents under the brand BioCode Hycel. Drew Scientific, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Escalon Medical Corp., and has JAS Diagnostics and Biocode Hycel as its subsidiaries.
The Company's Sonomed Escalon group is a leader in ophthalmic diagnostics imaging, providing ultrasound, digital photography, and image management, and surgical solutions. These products have previously been marketed under the Sonomed, Escalon Digital Solutions, and Escalon / Trek Medical brands. Sonomed, Inc. and Escalon Medical Imaging are wholly-owned subsidiaries of Escalon Medical Corp.
The Company has its corporate headquarters in Wayne, Pennsylvania and operations in Long Island, New York, New Berlin, Wisconsin, Stoneham, Massachusetts, Dallas, Texas, Waterbury, Connecticut, Miami Lakes, Florida, Barrow-in-Furness, UK and Le Rheu, France.
The Company seeks to utilize strategic partnerships to help finance its development programs and is also seeking acquisitions to further diversify its product line to achieve critical mass in sales and take better advantage of the Company's distribution capabilities.
