PD ACCESS

Step 3 Insert the introducer into subcutaneous tissue in the customary manner. Flush the needle to remove any air bubbles that may have collected as the needle passed through the skin. The doppler enables you to hear arterial or venous flow as you approach the vessel.

Step 4 Move the tip in a circular motion, slowly sweeping (scanning) while listening for the desired flow sounds. When the doppler detects the flow sound - STOP! Scan for maximum arterial or venous signal. Intensity of the sound increases as the needle advances toward the vessel.
